Skills within the building trades have been handed down for generations. These skills along with new technologies are only learned from the best training available in the industry— District Council 16 Apprenticeship Program.

This is where a trades person can get paid to learn.




General Requirements

Applicants must be at least 18 years old. There is no maximum age limit. Apprentices are indentured to the Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee (JATC) and are cleared to the employer by means of a referral slip signed jointly by JATC and one of the participating Local Unions within the IUPAT District Council 16 area.

Education: Shall possess sufficient educational knowledge to satisfactorily complete on-the-job training and related technical instruction. A high school diploma or GED equivalency is recommended. For Glazier applicants a high school diploma or GED is required.

Aptitude Test: Must bring your valid driver's license and social security card at the time of testing. Glazier applicants must also bring their high school diploma or GED credential. Aptitude test is only given by appointment.

Sponsor: Must have a Signatory contractor to sponsor you into the Apprenticeship program. Once you have your sponsor, the sponsor must call the Apprenticeship Program to set up an appointment for you to come and take your aptitude test.
