Your Career as a
Commercial or Industrial Painter
Applicants must show proficiency in reading paint labels and warning labels for toxic materials as determined by the JATC. Apprentices transferring to the Bay Area program must meet these standards.
As a painting apprentice, you will be taught all of the necessary preparation work that is required prior to any applications. Work will be performed on all types of buildings, new and old on both interior and exterior surfaces. In addition, you will learn state-of-the-art learning systems.

- Blueprint Reading
- Labor History
- Proper and Safe Use of Power Tools
- Proper and Safe Use of Hand Tools
- Product Knowledge
- Jobsite Safety
- Faux Finishing
- Wall Covering
- Wood Finishing
- Brush Prep & Roll
- Spray Application
- Color Mixing & Sand Blasting
Painting apprentices will learn the safe and proficient use of trade equipment and be trained in the application of wallpaper, vinyl wall fabrics, and all types of decorative and protective coatings.
Wages
Beginning apprentices receive a percentage of journeyman wage including full health coverage and other limited fringe benefits that increase with each progressive step in the Program. Apprentice wages increase every six months as they complete a combination of on-the-job training hours along with passing credit for classroom and hands-on training at our training facilities until they become a journeyman at the end of the program. Other Requirements
Apprentices must possess sufficient educational knowledge to satisfactorily complete on-the-job training and related technical instruction. A high school diploma or GED equivalency is recommended. Applicants must be at least 18 years old. There is no maximum age limit. More Information Here.
